“In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference, in 20 sessions you’ll see the difference,
in 30 you’ll have a new body.” –Joseph Pilates
Pilates emphasizes the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility, and awareness. Core strength is the foundation of Pilates exercise. The core muscles are the deep, internal muscles of the abdomen and back. Pilates addresses underlying structural imbalances that commonly lead to back pain by working from the inner muscles to outer muscles. Training also focuses on breathing and centering to achieve optimum postural alignment. This comprehensive process strengthens the body’s foundation or “core.”
Pilates will help you look and feel your very best. Our Fort Collins Pilates instructors will guide you through a safe, sensible exercise system. Pilates develops body awareness, good posture, and easy, graceful movement. Pilates also improves flexibility, agility, and economy of motion. Modification is the key to success with a variety of populations; all exercises are developed with modifications to make the workout safe and challenging for a person at any level.
Movement with purpose. Pilates emphasizes slow control in movement. This movement causes the stabilizing muscles to engage throughout the entire workout– an ideal exercise.
Body awareness. Increased body awareness during Pilates improves connections from the brain to the muscles, allowing for increased mobility and function in the muscles and joints.
Versatility. Persons of any age and any fitness level can use Pilates.
Safety. The workout is zero impact and movement is very controlled. Pilates is the type of activity that will help when you’re in pain (as opposed to potentially adding to pain).
